Privacy Policy & Terms of Use
Short version: PillID does not require an account, does not sell your data, and does not store your search queries or pill photos. We use Google AdSense to display ads, which involves Google's own data practices.
1. Who we are
PillID operates the website at quickpillid.com. We provide a free pill identification tool built on publicly available drug data from the U.S. National Library of Medicine. We are not a medical organization, pharmacy, or healthcare provider. Contact: privacy@pillid.app
2. Information we collect
We collect minimal data to operate the service:
- Search queries: Pill searches are sent to our servers to retrieve results. We do not store queries linked to any identifier.
- Pill photos: If you use the photo identification feature, your image is transmitted to Anthropic's Claude Vision API and is not stored by PillID after the response is returned.
- Server logs: Standard logs (IP address, browser type, pages accessed, timestamps) are retained for up to 30 days for security purposes, then deleted.
- Theme preference: Light/dark mode preference is stored in your browser's localStorage only — it never leaves your device.
We do not use tracking cookies, behavioral analytics, or user profiling. We do not require account creation. We do not collect names or email addresses unless you contact us directly.
3. Google AdSense
PillID displays advertisements served by Google AdSense (publisher ID: ca-pub-1105172945599840). Google uses cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to websites. You can opt out at Google's Ad Settings or via the NAI opt-out tool. Google's practices are governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
4. Third-party APIs
PillID retrieves drug information from OpenFDA (FDA), NLM RxNav (National Library of Medicine), and Anthropic's Claude API. Only drug identifiers are transmitted — no personal data.
5. Data security
All traffic is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS. The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages and Workers. No sensitive health data is stored on our servers.
6. Children's privacy
PillID does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Contact us at privacy@pillid.app if you believe a child has submitted information and we will delete it.
7. Terms of use
8. Informational use only
PillID provides drug identification and education information for informational purposes only. Nothing on this site constitutes medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a licensed pharmacist or healthcare provider for medication questions. In a medical emergency, call 911. For poison concerns, call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222.
9. No warranty
PillID is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. Drug databases change, pills are reformulated, and counterfeits exist. We are not liable for any harm arising from reliance on information provided by this tool.
10. Acceptable use
You may use PillID for personal, non-commercial pill identification and drug education. You may not scrape the database commercially, abuse the API, or use the service for any unlawful purpose.
11. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. Continued use constitutes acceptance.
12. Cookies & Consent (EEA, UK, Switzerland)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we use a Google-certified Consent Management Platform (CMP) to request your consent before serving personalized advertisements. You can withdraw or change your consent at any time by clicking the "Manage Consent" link in the footer or revisiting the consent banner.
Cookies used on this site include:
- Google AdSense / Advertising cookies: Used by Google to serve ads based on your interests. These are only set after consent in applicable regions.
- Google Analytics (if enabled): Used to understand aggregate traffic patterns. No personal data is sold.
- Functional cookies: Used to remember your theme preference (dark/light mode) and consent choices. These are strictly necessary for site functionality.
Under GDPR and UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict processing, and to data portability. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@pillid.app. We will respond within 30 days.
PillID does not sell personal data to third parties. We do not use personal data for automated decision-making or profiling beyond what Google's advertising platform performs under its own privacy policy.
