What Is Prednisone?

- Cataracts and glaucoma: Long-term use is strongly associated with posterior subcapsular cataracts and elevated eye pressure (glaucoma).

- Diabetes: Prednisone raises blood sugar and can induce or worsen type 2 diabetes, sometimes requiring insulin management during treatment.

Who Requires Extra Caution?

When long-term prednisone is medically necessary, doctors take steps to reduce its impact.
